On May 13, 2025, Ping An Health and Novo Nordisk China announced a strategic partnership. Going forward, the two parties will leverage their respective strengths in obesity management and public health education to jointly establish a full-cycle, service loop encompassing awareness enhancement, clinical intervention, and long-term management, in order to promote the implementation of scientific weight loss principles.

In recent years, obesity has emerged as a major public health challenge in China. However, public awareness regarding scientific weight management remains insufficient. There is an urgent need for personalized obesity management programs and multi-dimensional support encompassing nutrition, exercise, medical consultation, and mental health. In June last year, the National Health Commission launched a three-year “Weight Management Year” initiative, explicitly calling for the use of digital technologies to drive innovation in management models.

This strategic partnership marks an innovative move by both parties to actively respond to national policies on weight management. By harnessing both policy support and technological innovation, the two sides will establish a comprehensive care system that spans from awareness to diagnosis, pioneering a new model of obesity management services and advancing the national level of healthy weight management.

According to representatives at the event, the collaboration will include the launch of an "Obesity Education Section" within Ping An Health’s digital ecosystem, establishing a full-chain weight management pathway. Specifically, users can download the Ping An Health App, navigate from “Health Care” to the “Obesity Education Section”, and calculate their BMI using a self-assessment tool, which enables quick categorization of weight status and identification of potential health risks. The section will feature diverse content such as infographics and educational videos to vividly explain the dangers of obesity and knowledge about scientific weight loss. It will also connect to weight management service outlets, allowing users to locate nearby partner institutions and pharmacies after completing their health evaluation, thereby enabling a seamless experience from self-assessment to intervention. In the future, Ping An Health and Novo Nordisk will continue leveraging their strengths to explore intelligent weight management, supporting patients in maintaining long-term healthy weight.

Li Dou, Chairman and CEO of Ping An Health, stated: “As a global pioneer and leader in the field of obesity treatment, Novo Nordisk brings strong expertise and innovation that lay a solid foundation for our partnership. As the flagship of Ping An Group’s healthcare and elderly care ecosystem, Ping An Health is committed to building a professional bridge between doctors and patients, connecting high-quality medical resources with growing market needs, and delivering high-quality, one-stop medical and elderly care services. We look forward to deepening our collaboration with Novo Nordisk and are confident it will help more obesity patients tackle the long-term burden of chronic diseases.”

Zhou Xiaping, Christine, Global Senior Vice President and President of Greater China at Novo Nordisk, stated: “As a leading healthcare and elderly care platform in China, Ping An Health offers a comprehensive patient service network, service system, and resource support. With national policies increasingly focused on obesity prevention and improving health literacy, we are pleased to collaborate with Ping An Health based on our shared patient-centric philosophy. By integrating high-quality resources, we aim to raise awareness about obesity prevention, enhance the population’s health literacy, and address the broader issue of chronic disease prevention through the ‘small entry point’ of weight management—supporting the goals of Healthy China 2030.”
