Ping An Health Supports County Hospitals with High-quality Development and Life-style Medical Centers with Pilot Co-construction

On 5 June 2023, Ping An Healthcare and Technology Company Limited (“Ping An Health” or “the Company”; Stock Code: 1833.HK), due to its intelligent medical product “Ping An Chronic Disease Manager”, was invited to participate in the Digital Therapy and Informational Medical Big Data Committee Meeting held by the Boao County Health Development Research Center of Chinese Association of County Hospital President Collaboration in Beijing. The meeting was attended by Professor Huo Yong, an expert in the cardiovascular field; Zhou Maigeng, Deputy Director of the National Center for Chronic and Noncommunicable Disease Control and Prevention; and Kong Guilan, a postdoctoral fellow and Associate Researcher of the National Institute of Health Data Science at Peking University with a doctorate from the University of Manchester.

During the meeting, Ping An Health presented how their service, Ping An Chronic Disease Manager, has contributed to the high-quality development of county-level hospitals and made significant achievements in information-based medical management. Specifically, the platform has been successful in online hypertension management, with 1.1 million users effectively managed from April 2022 to June 2023, according to operational statistics provided by Ping An Chronic Disease Manager. Among them, the number of hypertensive users has reached 224,000; the blood pressure compliance rate has gained 70.74% for the first quarter of 2023; the user satisfaction rate has reached 99.85% in June 2023.

Ping An Health utilizes the "lifestyle medicine" theory to connect online and offline slow disease management services, providing comprehensive solutions for patients. By leveraging patient and user medical history, family medical history, and lifestyle information, the platform offers co-management services through a team of doctors, nutritionists, health management specialists, and psychological consultants. Ping An Health has developed personalized plans for medical index monitoring (such as blood sugar, blood pressure and weight), popular science education, diet and exercise, helping patients shape and maintain a healthy lifestyle through meal reviews, community check-ins, and patient education clearance.

In the meantime, in terms of offline service capacity building, Ping An Health cooperates with hospitals to jointly build a lifestyle medicine discipline to achieve "clinicalization of lifestyle". The primary objective of the lifestyle medicine discipline is to intervene in patients' lifestyles during diagnosis and treatment, utilizing non-drug methods such as dietary adjustments, exercise, stress relief, and smoking cessation to prevent and even reverse chronic diseases.

At the meeting, Chen Haolin, Ping An Health's expert on chronic diseases, presented the successful implementation and results of the Ping An Health lifestyle medicine center, which was jointly established with the Shenzhen Hospital of Southern Medical University and the Shenzhen Community Health Association. The center received widespread recognition and praise from the attending experts.

Ping An Health has demonstrated an innovative approach to management methods by leveraging advanced AI technology and big data analysis models through their subsidiary, Ping An Medical Technology. By utilizing the "lifestyle medicine" theory and medical guidelines, Ping An Chronic Disease Manager has transformed nine types of blood pressure into three more manageable types, while integrating cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to improve patient compliance. In addition, Ping An Chronic Disease Manager has also developed golden behavioral rules and AI health managers to improve management effectiveness and efficiency.

CBT, which applies cross-theoretical models, implements corresponding strategies and actions in five stages. Meanwhile, by selecting suitable TOSS driving modes (lazy mode, deadly mode, beautiful mode, and conformist mode) for different users, Ping An Chronic Disease Manager is able to effectively manage users, help them better understand their thinking and behavior patterns, and improve user medical compliance.

The “Golden Behavior Law”, which is based on nutritional medicine and medical guidelines, extracts feasible “golden behaviors” to help users develop healthy habits and improve management effectiveness. Additionally, the AI Health Management Specialist automatically identifies the user's dietary structure and provides meal suggestions based on uploaded meal pictures, dynamically guiding users to adjust their diet. The development and application of this technology has increased the service efficiency of health management specialists by five times.

After hearing Ping An Health's report, the attending experts praised the company's innovative approach to online hypertension management through the Golden Behavior Law and the successful implementation of hospital lifestyle medicine centers. Furthermore, several hospital directors and experts expressed their interest in collaborating with Ping An Chronic Disease Manager to pilot lifestyle medicine centers.

Presently, Ping An Health's slow disease management products, including diabetes and obesity management, have been successfully implemented and utilized in the lifestyle medicine center of the Shenzhen Hospital of Southern Medical University. Going forward, Ping An Health will remain committed to its people-oriented development strategy and focus on technological innovation, continuously promoting innovation and development in slow disease management to provide better health management services to the public. Ping An Health will also continue to leverage its expertise and collaborations with other experts to improve its capabilities and provide more personalized and comprehensive health management solutions to patients, further promoting the high-quality development of county-level hospitals.
